Heinkel He 115 WNr 2398 emerges from the sea near Stavanger
Hi guys!
I just wanted to share the news from Norway this afternoon. After nearly 70 years at the bottom of the sea, a ultra rare Heinkel He 115 B-C, the iconic Luftwaffe seaplane, has been successfully rescued from the sea. Lost on December 28th 1942, due to a damaged float (parts of the aircraft, one engine and floats were disassembled before it sank), the 1./906 aircraft has now been taken ashore in astonishing condition. A million thanks to Arnt-Espen Skipnes for the photos Regards, Andreas B

Re: Heinkel He 115 WNr 2398 emerges from the sea near Stavanger
Just Fantastic!
Here is a link from a other forum showing some close pictures from the salvaging. One picture shows some kind of art drawing , anybody seen that before ? http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...?f=49&t=188233 Link with a little film : http://www.aftenbladet.no/nyheter/lo...l#.T8sgslKa-GU The a/c is said to be dismantled in 5 parts, then it will be laid in big fresh water tanks for about 2-3 years in an attempt to get all of the salt off. It looks great doesn`t it
