Does anyone know the purpose of the hole at the front of the 190F-8 spinner? TIA Dave |

Re: Fw190 F-8 spinner
Are you telling me that the spinner is still in place in that photograph? I don't believe it is. First, the hub holding the template in place is the size of the prop shaft, not the size of the spinner hole. Second, from what I can tell in the photograph, the prop blades and bottom of the cowl would be placed further backmore if the spinner was still on.

Re: Fw190 F-8 spinner
That is a 109E in the picture not an FW-190. Both the rumpfwaffen and the flugelwaffen on the FW-190F series fired through the propeller.
The FW-190 has a different calibrated rotating disk. I guess I can dig out and scan a picture for you guys. The procedure is described in Teil 8A of the Flugzeug Handbuch. Now for some odd reason (probably subcontractors) Haube 9-12067.30 does come both with and without a hole. If you were the unlucky crewchief to have one without, then yes, you’re taking the prop spinner off to synchronize the guns. All the best, Crumpp |
