Logbook of Lt. Josef "Jupp" Bürschgens 7./JG26

Does anyone know if the Logbook of Lt. Josef Bürschgens survives? He was a POW on 1.9.40, after force landing in England. He survived the war and many of his photos have been published. It seems likely that his FB also survived, but I've never seen reference to it. Anybody know if it still exists?

Thanx,

Re: Logbook of Lt. Josef "Jupp" Bürschgens 7./JG26

Larry,

to the best of my knowledge Josef Bürschgen's logbbok did not survive the war. When I met Josef Bürschgens in his home on the island of Sylt many years ago ( in the early 70's ), where after his retirement from the new Luftwaffe he was the representant of an art gallery, he gave me everything he still had that was related to his career as a fighter pilot in WW II to scrutinize and make copies of whatever I wanted. There was no flight log and I think I remember him saying that he never got it again after his release from captivity.

This of course doesn't completely and positively rule out that it still exists somewhere but at least it seems very unlikely.

Sorry, I wish I had better news.

Regards

Jochen

I understand log books were not flown but left on the ground.

Late to this thread, but I knew him for years here in Canada, and he definitely did not have his Flugbuch.
