Loss info needed on LATE Me109G Crash - March 1945

Hey guys...

I recently acquired some items from a late-war Me109 wreck. This is the information I was given. If anyone can fill any blanks it would be GREATLY appreciated...

"March 1945 flew an Me109 G reconnaissance flight over Freyung Grafenau to Schoenberg. In Schoenberg, the aicraft was hit by the US (FlaK?) and caught fire. The plane flew towards a house in the woods where it crashed into a boggy ground in front of a forest.

The pilot bailed out, but he did not survive. The body was recovered and carted off with to a house in the woods, where he was given a simple funeral by a local woman. The name of the pilot was Feldwebel Hans Helmut Habermehl from 1/JG 10/8. Years later, his body was sent to Hofkirchen (military cemetery).

100% this wreck has a tall wood tail, as well as a wood Horizontal stab and rudder. It also features YELLOW paint on the rudder (over top of the late-war camo). Fors ome reason, I thought the yellow rudders were only used on the Eastern Front?

100% not a K, as there are a few details that are specific to the late G...all evidence I have points to a G10.

As there were no units of JG10 or JG8...I am assuming that what was supposed to be written was JG108?

Does anyone have ANY info concerning this pilot or the dates/units in question?

TIA

Mike
