Hauptmann Erich Dobe BOB Bf 109 pilot?
In Eagle Day, the Battle of Britain, the author Richard Collier reproduces an account of an air battle on 31 August 1940 in which he describes the actions of Bf 109 pilot Hauptmann Erich Dobe, without identifying his unit. There is an entry in Larry's Career Summaries - Luftwaffe Officers 1935 - 1945 for: "DOBE, Erich. 09.40 Hptm., flew a Bf 109 E with an unknown Jagdverband."
Can anyone provide any more information on Dobe, did he exist? Peter |

Thank Chris, he seems like the most likely candidate, presumably Collier had access to an account in which a simple word transposition – Dobe to Bode – had occurred.
