Wing number two times ?
Hello, i want ask if the German Luftwaffe used an Wing number an second time if an Plane was crasht ?
I know that the Ju 88 from KG51 9K+EL shot down 12.08.1940 , is it possible that an other new Plane get later the same Wing number again ? Thanks in advance |

Re: Wing number two times ?
It could not work any other way.
Three of the letters signify the Geschwader and the Gruppe/staffel. That just leaves one letter for the aircraft identity. They certainly got through more than 24 aircraft in the space of five years If each one was unique then the 9K would have to change after each batch of 24 letters was used up In short, there were several aircraft with 9K+EL |

Re: Wing number two times ?
And, at different stages of the war in I./KG 51, the same markings (9K+EL for example) could have appeared on a Ju 88, an Me 410 and an Me 262.
