Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur E (v) 218/XII

Hello,

I am looking for some assistance to decipher with its signature the name of this "Major u. Stabsoffizier". On another document, under its signature there is "Major u. Fl.H.Kommandant". I am not able to read the very first letters and the last ones are perhaps "...ANOD" but not with much conviction. Thanks a lot beforehand for your proposals.

I agree with Byron, but we do not have a HAWEL in our Lw.- Officers Career Summaries. However, we do have a single HAVEL:

HAVEL, Karl. 01.10.41 promo to Maj.(Fl.).

Unfortunately though, we never found any career or assignment information on him. But his rank matches and his branch (Fliegertruppe) is the right one for a Horstkommandant. That greatly increases the odds that he may be the Major you are looking for since, provided the spelling is correct, we found no one else with this last name.

Hello Byron, Hello Larry,

At one letter, you arrive at the same name. So, to all appearances, it is perhaps the right man. Thanks a lot for for your answers.

Kindest regards,
Frederic
