Otto Leupert Ju88S-1 L1+BK - should it be an S-3?

According to Michael Holm's website, Otto Leupert was killed in August 1944 in Ju88S-1 L1+BK, but the Bewegungsmelden for the Gruppe only show S-3s on strength for ANY of the Geschwader's Gruppen at any time.
Can anyone confirm whether S-1 is correct, or should it be S-3?
Thanks
Peter
