3(F)/31, 16.08.1940

Can anyone provide more information (ie. Target, whereabouts Do17P crashed, etc.) for the following:

3(F)/31.
Dornier Do17P ( ). Reconnaissance sortie to England, failed to return. Lt. Karl Braasch (F), Oblt. Hans Horn (B) and Gefr. Ernst Gropp (Bf) all missing. Aircraft lost.

Also, dates of birth, EM, etc for the crew would be most helpful.

From the site: http://wight.hampshireairfields.co.uk/iowc.html, they list: 15-08-40, Do-17P, 3(F)31,shot down and crashed in sea South of Ventnor 3 KIA. Is this the same loss?

Many thanks, Steve

Steve,

BofBTaN lists the Braasch loss as being 15/08/40.

As does Mason in "Battle over Britain" - additional information from this reads "Shot down by Spitfires of 602 Sqdn 5 miles south of Ventnor at approx 08.00 hrs."

As to sortie and target - please see some Luftflotte 3 documents attached.
