Phoney War DO17 4N + KH
Hi everyone,
I am looking for information about a Do17 shot down in France, more precisely near Anthien, in the Nievre department, with marks : 4N + KH or 4N + XH most probably during the winter 1939/1940. Can some one help ? Thanks and best regards GC |

No Chris it is not this one,
the area is not the same, the one you quote is in the Meuse department (North East of France) whereas mine is much more in the South (Nièvre Department, more South ) Thanks for your hints GC |

Here is a poor image, but here is an image.
You will note that a He111 also crashed in the same village. I shall come back on that one later on. GC Last edited by gilles collaveri; 17th November 2018 at 19:38. |

Re: Phoney War DO17 4N + KH
Gilles,
The left Picture below, seems to come from the book edited previously by Heimdal, La Luftwaffe attaque à L'Ouest (1939-1942)...from memory. The book is not at hand now...so can not provide further information though. Sorry. |

Re: Phoney War DO17 4N + KH
Gilles,
Does JULY 1940 (date unknown) seems a probability? 131.6 Dornier 17 en flamme le long de la route de Dijon (Précy Vitteaux) en juillet 1940, 1 photographie n/b, 6.5 x 9 cm, inconnu, 1940. Anthien seems between the road from Précy to Vitteaux... Keep looking...maybe someone can check the Heimdal book for us...if memory does not fail me, this Picture is on the very first 20 pages..... You are extraordinary, Adriano, I shall ask my contact .
But if it this is it, we don't have any information on this Do17, correct ? Salut à toi ! Gilles |

Re: Phoney War DO17 4N + KH
I know more about these machines, guys.
The aircraft that crashed at Anthien is the Heinkel 111, it was on June 5th 1940, at 14H30. Anthiem is near Avord airport and the anti aircraft guns of Avord set an engine on fire. Crew was wounded but alive. Can somebody tell us more about this 5 June 1940 He111 ? Concerning the Do17, I bet it was a mix of pictures, and this Do17 has nothing to do there. GC |

Re: Phoney War DO17 4N + KH
Hi,
both pictures of the Do-17 have nothing to do with Anthien, and this is not the picture of the same aircraft 4N+KH that was published by Jean-Bernard Frappé in "La Luftwaffe attaque à l'Ouest (France 1939-1942)" (Historica N°25) magazine, page 7. Below is the picture from the Heimdal magazine. See You Vince |
