Movements of JG 54 in August 1941
Hi everyone,
Looking at Michael Holm’s page one sees 8.9./JG 54 move to Gdov on 13 August 1941 while 7./JG 54 moves to Wesenburg the same day. On 21 August 8.9./JG 54 moves to Wesenburg also, but 7./JG moves on the same day to where ? Then on 26 August one sees all three Staffeln move to “Sarudinje” on the east side of Lake Peipus and “Torma” on the west side (in Estonia). It isn't clear who goes where. So who was at Torma and for how long ? Thanks in advance |

Re: Movements of JG 54 in August 1941
Hello,
for August 1941, there are two maps in Heeresgruppe Nord papers showing locations of air force units on 8. and 29. August: https://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/...907036/zooms/8 https://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/...907051/zooms/8 Quote:

Re: Movements of JG 54 in August 1941
Hi guys,
To Andrus: Thanks for the maps. Right away I can see that Torma is the airfield of many names also known as Torrossowa, aka Torosovo, aka Lissino, which is actually Lisino former home 202 SBAP as Dmitry Volodin was telling me just last week. So 7./JG 54 departs for Rakvere/Wesenberg on 10 August instead of 13 August, but does 8.9./JG 54 remain at Novoselye until 13 August or do they move to Gdov on 10 August as well ? So, just to be clear, Chris Goss you are telling me that 7./JG 54 stayed at Rakvere/Wesenberg until the 26 August and left together with 8.9./JG 54 on the 26 August. But did they go to two separate airfields (Sarudinje/Torma) ? Or did they all move to “Torma” aka Lisino ? Never mind the map for 29.8.1941 Andrus posted implies III./JG 54 is still at Rakvere. I am curious what you have to say Cheers oquaig |
