Military History Magazine June 1988

Hi guys

I believe this issue contains an interview by Peter Smith with W/Cdr Arthur Gill, who was Blenheim pilot in Sumatra and Singapore 1942.

Should you have a copy, would you kindly scan this article for me?

Cheers
Brian

Smith has published two books on the Vengeance dive bomber in WWII

Vengeance! The Vultee Vengeance Dive Bomber (1986)

apparently republished as The Vultee Vengeance in Battle (Pen & Sword 2019)

Jungle Dive Bombers at War (1987)

Re: Military History Magazine June 1988

Hi Brian,

I do no have a copy of the magazine but found an index for the issue at an ebay auction page and hoped that the info might assist in the locating and copying of the article by a forum member. The focus of the article seems to be on the period of 1943-1944.

I look forward to your next book.

Edward

Re: Military History Magazine June 1988

"What of 84 Squadron? It had only been kept together as a unit after well nigh annihilated in the disasters of Sumatra and Java early in the year. Only a scattered handful had got back to India but Squadron Leader Arthur Murland Gill was determined his proud unit should not be disbanded and he succeeded in holding the nucleus together." p. 70.
