Staffelkapitän 1/JFS 1 (September 1940-May 1941)?

Gents,

Does anyone know who the Staffelkapitän of 1 Staffel, Jagdfliegerschule 1 was between September 1940 and May 1941?

Entries 3-5 indicate two if not three different Staffelkapitän during this time frame!?!?

According to "Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe" Volume 2 by Carlsen and Meyer, it was Oblt. Hermann Reifferscheidt from 25.4.1940 until .02.1942, however he was shot down and became Pow on 1.11.1940!

Page 23 shows Lt. Ulrich Wollschläger as a representative to the Staka, later Staka himself of 2 and 3 at the same time?
Leave 4 is the same as 5 on page 3 above attachment.

No prizes for getting the bottom signature though on page 3

Thanks in advance,
Ian

Re: Staffelkapitän 1/JFS 1 (September 1940-May 1941)?

A search of our officer career database reveals only the following Staka:

For 1./JFS 1:

FINSTERBUSCH, Hans (Heini). 02.42 Oblt., appt Staka 1./JFS 1 (to 14.12.42). 01.06.42 promo to Hptm. 15.12.42 Hptm., appt Staka 1./JG 101 (to 01.04.43). 16.08.44 Hptm., appt Chef Gen.Qu. 2. Abt. Gruppe II Referat B (Planung und Sonderaufgaben)/Gen.St.d.Lw.

REIFFERSCHEIDT, Hermann. 24.11.37 Lt. at FFS C Celle (later FFS C 7). 01.08.39 Oblt., in I./JG 2 (to 01.11.40). 03.40 in 2./JG 2. 25.04.40 Oblt., appt Staka 1./JFS 1. 10.40 Staka 1./JG 2. 01.11.40 Oblt. and Staka 1./JG 2, POW - forced down by RAF fighters at Sidlesham, Sussex). 01.04.42 promo to Hptm. Credited with one known victory.

For 1./Jagdfliegervorschule 1:

KERKMANN, Friedrich-Wilhelm. (DOB: 29.08.14). 01.09.39 Oblt., at Fl.techn.Schule Jüterbog. 01.08.41 Adjutant in I./LG 2, then trf to 8./JG 77. 31.03.42 Oblt. in 4,/JG 52, appt Staka 1./Jagdfliegervorschule 1 (to 11.10.42). 01.04.42 promo to Hptm. 12.10.42 Hptm., appt Staka 1./JFS 7 (to 25.01.43). 26.01.43 Hptm., appt Staka 1./JG 107 (to 26.03.43). 27.03.43 Hptm., appt Staka 1./JG 106 (to 09.07.43). 10.07.43 Hptm., appt Kdr. I./JG 106 (to 28.09.43). 07.44 Hptm. and Geschw. Adjutant in Stab/JG 106.

As for Wollschläger, we have:

WOLLSCHLÄGER, Ulrich. (DOB: 12.11.18 in München). 05.40 with 8./JG 2. 12.08.40 in JG 53. 03.04.41 Oblt., appt Staka 2. and? 3./JFS 1 (to 11.08.41). 30.09.41 Oblt., appt Staka 3./JG 53 (to 01.42). 09.01.42 trf to JG 27. 04.11.42 flight instructor. 22.01.43 trf to II./JG 27. 24.06.43 Oblt. in Jagdgruppe Süd, trf to Stab JG 51. 07.09.43 in 1./JG 51 (to 22.08.44). 01.04.44 promo to Hptm. 22.08.44 trf to SG 151.

It appears that we are missing some data, as 1./JFS 1 isn't mentioned.

That is about all we can say about this.

We hope that this helps.

Thank you very much for the info Doug,
I will have a dig through my references but do not recall seeing these signatures before anywhere. Also, the signatures are difficult to make out.......will try again in the morning when my eyes are not so tired.

Do you have any records of an Aschendorf or Aschenxxxx, not sure if that is what number 3 is?

Ian
