Loss Olt. H. Sigl 17./KG. z. b. V. 5 Peine
Hello,
regarding the Loss of Oberleutnant Hans Sigl 17./KG. z. b. V. 5 on 26. Juli 1940. Due to local Documents from the timeline in Peine found out that this Loss happened not in Beckum (written on the Death/Loss Card WAST) but between the villages Hohenhameln and Bekum-Stedum. Acft. hit not a Beacon or Light pole but the Chimney of a brickworks in bad weather. Oltn. Hans Sigl rest at the local cemetery in Peine Further Infos for this crash are also welcome... Happy New Year and all the Best for you, Regards streak98 (Dirk) |

Re: Loss Olt. H. Sigl 17./KG. z. b. V. 5 Peine
Hi Leo,
Thanks for your reply.... but the Infos are not 100% sure....Beckum is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, (Area south -west of Güterloh) so after checking all the Details (timeline Peine) in the village of Bekum-Stedum (between Hohenhameln and Peine) it is sure that Oltn. Sigl hit the Chimney of the local Brickstone works.... greetings and "Thanks again"... streak98 (Dirk) |

Re: Loss Olt. H. Sigl 17./KG. z. b. V. 5 Peine
Hi Dirk
This loss took place on 25. July 1940, Oblt Sigl was wounded and died one day later. The loss place was given as "between Hohenhameln-Hildesheim" from Ancestry and Beckum, Krs.Peine from BA. Beckum was really "Bekum" and is located 15km NO Hildesheim near Stedum. best wishes JoMe |
