Re: HE802 Wellington - Aberdeenshire
The location of the crash seems to be varied....
(1) Near Turriff (2) Near Gartly, Huntly (3) "South East of Base" which could be (1) or (2) but does mention (2) Report W1684 of AVIA 5/22/W1684 mentions "Corry Down Aberdeenshire" which both (1) and (2) have Trying to find actual facts rather that Internet assumptions, Does anybody have any exact traceable location of the crash? |

Re: HE802 Wellington - Aberdeenshire
There are three RCAF members on board so you can get their service files on ancestry.com and get a copy of the AVIA file via filephotoservice for example

Re: HE802 Wellington - Aberdeenshire
The Form 765c Court of Enquiry form from 1943 describes the crash location as
"CORRY DOWN 7 miles SW of HUNTLY 1100 ft. above M.S.L." See report https://drive.google.com/open?id=176...NXHkITV1mCbbee regards Dennis

Re: HE802 Wellington - Aberdeenshire
Many thanks Dennis
It reads the crew took off from Elgin (Bogs of Mayne?) which was where 20 OTU were based, and the COI was held at RAF Lossiemouth. Would you agree? |

Re: HE802 Wellington - Aberdeenshire
Some propeller blades were found around 8 miles from the crash site, the COI paperwork doesn't refer to any missing propellers and wondering how you go about finding out from limited markings on the props how they could be matched to the aircraft.
It could be a separate aircraft of course.... |
