Rosins ?

In a combat report, a British night-fighter pilot wrote: "No Rosins were showing nor was there any response to the interrogator. The type was definitely not British."
What is/are "Rosins"?

TIA

Chris

Re: Rosins ?

Possibly a typo, but what are Resin Lights?

Re: Rosins ?

I believe they were a type of infrared identification light, fitted to RAF night fighters late in the war. You needed an infrared viewer to see them.

Re: Rosins ?

Hi Bill,

What do you mean by "late in the war"?
The report I'm talking of is dated August 1943.

Sorry, brain fart there. It appears Resin were simply coloured lights, in use as early as 1941. There were experiments with infrared lights in 1944, but apparently under a different name.
