Re: Which stories behind these photos?
Not N3277, not flown by P/O Richard Hardy, not downed in 1940, not a Spitfire Ia.
CBAF built Spitfire VB with Rotol propeller, Sky coloured spinner. An entirely different AZ-H. Serial no., anyone? |

Yes, you're quite right. I've just reacted on AZ-H Cherbourg without looking through these pictures too much. This is Spitfire Vb AD203 AZ-H - 234 Sqn, hit by flak near Cherbourg and force-landed at lle Pelee on 20.10.41, According to FCL vol.1 the pilot, Sgt Fox listed as MIA, however, Sgt Peter Hutton Fox no.754399 was captured. Numeral 2, part of RAF serial, is clearly visible on one of the photos just next to the squadron code

Re: Which stories behind these photos?
Hi,
In regard of the stated low rate of reaction (if not lack of reaction and co-operation), I am wondering if posting here is really a good idea. I believe informations are available, here or there. So, why not sharing them in this thread? Any useful participation concerning this Spitfire? 19 july 1941 AZ°? City of Worchester II Serial? Place? Pilot? http://cgi.ebay.de/Orig-Foto-abg-Spi...item230ae18627 |

Re: Which stories behind these photos?
Thank you, Andrei and Peter for your replies.
Always interesting to get precisions on somewhat "obscure" facts. Regarding P8046, was the full code AZ°O or another one? |
