Hi All,
just checked the birth name Rudi.
In Germany parents named 1.300 babies Rudi between 2010 and 2022. The name is indeed very rare but definitly possible.

Dassow is not included in many of my books:
Toliver/Constable (1968) call him Rudolf.
Weal (1999) calls him Rudi.
Forsyth calls him Rudolf in 2011 and Rudi in 2019.

I do not care what these books say, especially the first ones. I never saw any reference to Rudolf in OFFICIAL documents. Only his birth certificate might give the final answer. But IF his name was Rudolf then I am sure it would have come up in some of the documents I have (NVM's or PA).

I think the same. Clerks would not have called him Rudi if his birth name had been Rudolf.
