Re: W,Nr. Identity

Yes The production numbers may not all be known but the reason they were there was simple Braunschweig was one of the test airfields for checking out new FW 190s from AGO. These aircraft were nearly done with the test flights and then ready to hand over to the Luftwaffe.
Thank you

Re: W,Nr. Identity

Hello everyone,
The Fw 190 A-8’s that landed at Braunschweig are a case-study in frustration for me. Of the eleven photos that I have in my collection, none show more than two aircraft at a time. This has made it impossible for me to determine the exact number of Fw 190’s found there. It is clear that at least two of these are unmarked AGO-built Fw 190 A-8’s, and because of their distinctive camouflage applications, are probably from within the 7396xx WNr. series. One of these is AGO-built Fw 190 A-8 WNr. 739641. Another mystery is the WNr. of the AGO-built Fw 190 A-8 coded 10+ red that is seen parked near the Ju88 and Ju 188.
Respectfully (from hibernation),

Steve Sheflin

Re: W,Nr. Identity

The reason the new aircraft are at Braunschweig is because this was a factory test airfield. These FW 190s were in the final stages of flight testing prior to delivery to the Luftwaffe if they were not already signed off for front line service. As far as the production numbers I only have the one that is readable in the fist photo. You may not be able to read the 739641 as the resolution is low.
Thank you Jim.
