Torpedo Attacks 1939-1942

I'm reviewing the effectiveness of air torpedo attacks in these yers. Have collected information on attacks by the British Swordfish aircraft but no others. Mostly I am looking for leads on when and where these torpedo attacks occured. Any refrences, dates, units, targets, or other information that will help me track this down is most welcome. Info about obscure &little published attacks are particularly sought.

Any discussion on this is most welcome as well

Thanks

Carl S

If you can read German, try to get: Ueberlebenschance gleich Null, by Bodo Diemer.
he flew torpedo attacks on Ju88's in the Mediterranean in 1943/44.
Greetings, Richard

Re: Torpedo Attacks 1939-1942

I've a German-English dictionary & Google Translate or Bablefish, so I could manage it slowly. I usually just work with a few paragraphs people send me. Is this text difficult or very long.

Thanks & Danke

There is also Harold Thiele's "Luftwaffe aerial torpedo aircraft and operations of World War II". It is not ehaustive but it does give a good picture of what you are looking for.

That is not in the local libraries. I'll have to try the interlibrary thing.

Thanks again for the lead.

Re: Torpedo Attacks 1939-1942

Thanks for the help. I've got a long reading list now. If anyone recalls a obscure of seldom mentions torpedo attack post the location & date. ie: I'd not known a couple flights of Swordfish attempted a attack @ Dakar Africa & several were shot down by H75 fighter planes.
