Wreck of P-39 russian found in 2004
Hello
What is the reason for the loss (19/11/44) of the P-39 Q-15 n°44-2911:fight or accident ? I have no claims by JG5 that day The wreck was discovered in July 2004 (with the body of Lt Ivan Baranovsky in the cockpit) in the lake of Mart-Yavr (Murmansk region). Thank's in advance Michel

Lt. Ivan Ivanovich Baranovsky (7 VA, 1 GvSAD, 733 IAP) was lost on November 19, 1944 in his P-39Q-15-BE (S/N: 44-2911, white "23") during ferry flight to Luostar(?). About 15 km from landing area he broadcasted that he turns to the left and loses altitude. His squadron commander, Zaitsev ordered him to return to his flight position immediately, but he disappeared from their sight and never returned.
