September 23,1940 picture?

In the latest issue of "Flypast" there's an article about a Spitfire pilot who shot down a Bf-109E during this date. The description in the article (I didn't buy the magazine, no room anywhere) seems to identify it as this picture from the BAttle of Britain.
The article described the shot down German airman as Uffz. Dilthey,4./JG-2.
Prien has:
"Uffz. Friedrich Dilthey, 4./JG-2, KG, Luftkampf Spitfire Abtsurz von Folkestone"

Dennis Knight in his book 'Harvest of Messerschmitts' has the same photo on page 139, stating that two pilots of 72 Sqdn. followed the Messerschmitt 109 down, and that Dilthey was rescued from the sea by two Army officers who swam out to rescue him and help him into a fishing boat. Date is correct also.

Thanks John!
I have always admired this picture and wondered about the story behind it.
