Re: Me109 windshield ?

GILLES, regarding this Bf 109 G at Blagnac:

a) Is this an original machine or a copy?
b) Would the Museum intend to paint it accordingly on LW "robe"? If so, which machine will be depicted or shown (unit / pilot)?

Most beautiful machine indeed.....as Clint said, lucky for those who can visit it frequently....Maybe one day we do come around....

A.

Re: Me109 windshield ?

salut mon pote Adriano

As far as I know, I believe that it is in fact a HA-1109-K1L Tripala, c/n 54, which has been fitted with a DB605.

I don't think that it will be painted one day with the Luftwaffe colors:

it belongs (and was restored) by Airbus Germany, so, I suppose that its is better that it remains "neutral" as much as possible;

I must admit that I don't know much about the history of this aircraft, shame on me, I shall ask information about it when I come back in Toulouse

I attach pictures of the plates, unfortunately difficult to read.

Cheers

GC

Re: Me109 windshield ?

Found it !!

you know, the hatch we found which I could not locate on the Bf109 : here it is, just behind the antenna mast, and above the "87" octane triangle.

It was checked on the Aeroscopia aircraft. It does match perfectly when you compare the rivets lines, the shape of the structure.

On the picture, you have the found hatch above the real one

Cheers

Re: Me109 windshield ?

however, I am now puzzled by this grey color. For me, the Bf109 had green colors in this area.

So, did some Bf109 had such grey ?

What RLM.....is it ?

Did the Nagr.13 Reco unit had a specific camo ?

Thanks for your ideas.
