Which SG attacked the soviet Dnestr-bridgehead at Dubossary on May 15, 1944?

My uncle was there, with remnants of 9. Panzerdivision. They were supposed to crush the bridgehead. He writes (im my rather loose translation): "After thorough artillery preparation, we climb out of our foxholes on May 15, 1944. 120 Stukas will give the soviet positions a final work-over. Due to heavy AA fire, the first one drops too early, and the following planes drop everything on us. More than half of our company of 112 men dies just 20 meters in front of our jump off position."
Is it possible to id the Schlachtgeschwader? Is the number of planes, 120, realistic that late in the war?
TIA, Richard

120 Stukas would be way too many, I think.

Schlacht Units under Luftflotte 4 and operating between Lvov and the Black Sea in mid-May 1944:

Stab,I.,II.,III./SG 2, 10.(Pz.)/SG 2, Stab IV.(Pz.),10.(Pz.),12.(Pz.),13.(Pz.),14.(Pz.)/SG 9, II./SG 10, Stab,I.,II.,III./SG 77, 10.(Pz.)/SG 77.

Of these, II./SG 10 was definitely providing ground support at Dubossary on 15 May 1944, but some of the other units may have been there, too. II./SG 10 was flying Fw 190s at the time.

Hi,

I. and III./Schlachtgeschwader 2 flew a pair of combined Stuka operations in the afternoon of 15 May 1944 to the Dubasari area. The first, between 16:00 and 17:00, targeted the town of Pogrebi, in the river bend just north of Dubasari. The second, between 17:45 and 18:45, targeted the town of Dorockoje, also in the river bend just north of Dubasari.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
