16/04/1945 352 FG P-51D Crash landed on the Continent

Hi,
The Mission Summary Report no.454 of 352 FG dated 16 April 1945 mentions that 1 aircraft was Cat “E” flak damaged. It also mentions that this aircraft crash landed on the continent.

Has this aircraft been identified ? Who was the pilot and where did it crash landed ?

Many thanks and best regards

Luc

Most likely 44-14224 salvaged by 5SAD due to battle damage - CAT E.
Pilot was Lt. Ronald O Swinson, 486FS.

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your reply.

5 SAD was based at Merville. So the plane must have crashed in Northern France or Belgium.

Best regards

Luc
