Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
Dear all,
I just found those three colour shots of a Me 262 final assembly line along the Munich - Salzburg Autobahn in the excellent website of E. T. Rulison Jr. about his ETO campaign with the 51st Evacuation Hospital. http://www.rogue-publishing.com/51st...n,_Germany.htm http://www.rogue-publishing.com/51st/rulison/VE_day.htm The site, which is made up of only vintage colours pics is quite fascinating, reflecting so vividly the 1944 - 1945 time span. The first Me 262 shot (Waldurn, see attachment) has incredibly vivid and fresh colours, considering its vintage. Cheers Marc Last edited by Marc-André Haldimann; 16th October 2011 at 13:31. |

Re: Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
These are fascinating pics, and there are two pictures of my hometown, Heidelberg, too.
But the author is a bit wrong: These days Heidelberg had 3 bridges, not two. All were destroyed i think on march, 29th by the Wehrmacht. |

Re: Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
Hy Marc
Me 262 wn. 111755, a lot of b\w pics and two o three in colours on books or internet; I know the same pic from the same source from last year, but this pic is fantastic, while the pic in my archive looks like a still frame ( and naturally the quality is poor), boh?. Re: Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
Caro Francesco,
Thanks for your precision, good to know the Wrknr. Was 111755 attributed to an unit, or was it factory fresh? As for the difference of quality, any doubts regarding a photoshop use? Dear Volker, Glad you appreciate this quite stunning link, and thanks for your precision, too! Keep up the posting of your grand father's pictures, they are absolutely exceptional! Cheers Marc |

Re: Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
Caro Marc,
from "Me 262 The Production Log 1941-1945" by Dan O' Connell, Classic ed. 2005 "111755 Me 262 A-1a. Found at the end of the war in a forested area at Horgau, or 16 km west of Augsburg (Stuttgart/Echterdingen) by US forces. It was painted with dark and medium green upper surfaces. Delivered to JV 44 " You can also see my thread about wn 111755 started on 25\11\2006 in this forum. About the superb quality of your pic I have not explanation because the web site was the same, the pic also and pic resolution too poor to be so improved by photoshop; the strange is also that the quality of the other pic is the same of the last year. All the best Francesco Maria Lentini |

Re: Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
Caro Francesco,
Grazie mille per le Sue pregiate precisioni. So Wrknr 111755 was a JV 44 bird; great. I tried to retrieve your link, but it is too far gone in time and out of the system. IS there any way for you to repost it? Many thanks Marc |

Re: Me 262 Final assembly plant in colour
Caro Francesco,
Grazie mille di nuovo! One last point of doubt: was Wrknr 111755 found in Horgau or Burgau (Kuno 1 Werk)? Cheers Marc |
