Hi guys

Can anyone confirm that F/O Peter Earle BARNES (39926) was wounded on 3 June 1940?

Cheers
Brian

Re: F/O P.E. BARNES 212 Sqn June 1940

Bonjour,

Brian: May I ask you your source because I don't have this name in my record, but a Spitifire from No. 212 Squadron did crash land badly at Rheims aerodrome on June the 8th 1940. I don't know the pilot...:
"A Spitfire of 212 sqn has forced landed at Reims-Champagne with a seized engine and must be salved at once"
She was destroyed on site...:
"Essential equipment has been salved, and the aeroplane will be destroyed"

Bye

Re: F/O P.E. BARNES 212 Sqn June 1940

Hi guys

Thanks for the input.

However, there remains the possibility that Barnes' wound was superficial and therefore not reported on his return to the UK, while his aircraft was repaired and flown back.

Cheers
Brian
