Identification of a Zerstorer pilot (abschusses)
Hello all
What is the pilot with this palmares? Zooming in,one of the claims, seems to be the 15/11/40. In my archives,I have no claims that day by any Zerstorer pilot. And what about on the fourth ? where the fifth? on 4/6/40.....a Swiss? seems he. Ideas to submit? Michel |

Re: Identification of a Zerstorer pilot (abschusses)
Thanks Chris.
Nothing to see with Kutscha,I think it's a different enigma. By zooming 400%,we can see some dates very well. "abschuss" n°1 (?)ay=two digits,Month=two digits,year=two digits...39 "abschuss" n°2 (?)ay=two digits,next=illisible "abschuss" n°3 (?):no dated....no confirmed? "abschuss" as nacht abschuss ? "abschuss" n°4 (?)ay=one digit 3,month=one digit 6,year=40 so 3/6/40 "abschuss" n°5 (?)ay=one digit 4,month=one digit 6,year=40 so 4/ 6/40 but why a Swiss the 4? "abschuss" n°6 (?) ay=two digits 15,month=one digit 8,year=40 so 15/8/40 "abschuss" n°7 (?)ay=two digits 15,month=two digits 11,year=40 so 15/11/40. "abschuss" n°8 (?)ay=two digits 30,month=one digit;year=40 so 30/?/40......30/9/40?? but why after "abschuss" n°7 (dated 15/11/40) "abschuss" n°9 (?)ay=two digits-the last 2,month=one digit,year=40 so ...?2/?/40 For me it rest a mystere. Re: Identification of a Zerstorer pilot (abschusses)
On 4 June 1940, II./ZG 1 fought with Swiss fighters and one Swiss Bf 109 was shot down. A claim by Uffz Herbert Kutscha of 5./ZG 1 is known.

Re: Identification of a Zerstorer pilot (abschusses)
Hi Michel
i was recently looking at German v Swiss combats in June 1940. My understanding is that German aircraft were crossing Swiss air space to get back to bases in Germany and were being intercepted by Swiss Bf 109s and sometimes shot down. The Germans therefore deliberately entered Swiss air space on 4th June to make a point to the Swiss. In the ensuing air battle 6./ZG 1 lost one Bf 110 and the Swiss lost one Bf 109. The airmen on both sides were all killed (2 German and 1 Swiss) as none of their parachutes deployed in time (too low). The exercise was repeated on 8th June and this time the Germans lost 4 Bf 110s for 1 Swiss Bf 109. The Germans did not deliberately test the Swiss again. Your photo could therefore perhaps be of an aircraft of II./ZG 1, which was involved in these actions prior to being re-designated III./ZG 76?

Re: Identification of a Zerstorer pilot (abschusses)
I believe Herbert Kutscha had seven victories in the West, prior to Operation Barbarossa. I have the Flugbuch of his Bordfunker, who records Kutscha's 8th Abschuss when they are both flying with II./SKG 210 (following yet another re-designation of the unit from III./ZG 76 and before that II./ZG 1).
