identity pilot NJG3 wearing DKiG?

Dear all,

Who can help identifying this pilot, probably belonging to NJG3 in 44/45, wearing a German Cross in Gold (DKiG)?

Cheers and thanks for any info, Theo

Re: identity pilot NJG3 wearing DKiG?

Hello Theo,

Unfortunately, it's not a NJG3 pilot.

That's undoubtably Walter Oesau. Oesau's primary decorations (RK, EL and S) are apparently not visible in this photo. Another possibility exists, however, that for some reason, he was not wearing the decorations at the time the photograph was shot.

Kind Regards,

Russ

Thanks Russ -it indeed appears to be Oesau. The photo stems from the collection of a late-war member of NJG3.

Cheers, Theo

Indeed, it is Oesau. Taken about 2 weeks before his death. I have a couple other versions of this picture in my extensive collection.
