Dornier 17 on Po Valley

Dear Friends, i found a photo about a Do17 belly landed in Urago D'Oglio, close the main road. I haven't notice about Do17 on MTO . few km north of Urago there was the 122 aufkl in Orio al Serio (Ju88 and 188). May be possible that 122 used also Do17?????
Thank You

Re: Dornier 17 on Po Valley

Dear maxjvb,

there is a missing element in your post, that is the date on which the photograph was taken.

Unless you have definitive proof that the photo was shot (and the plane crash landed) on 1944-45 - which I seriously doubt - it should have been instead taken in a period comprised between 1940 and 1942.

During those years Orio al Serio was used also as a transit airfield and German aircraft of all types could have used it as a stop on the route bringing to Southern Italy, North Africa and even Balkans.

Thus the first thing is to find a date for the accident and this could still be done through local memories or witnesses.

I do exclude FAGr. 122, since it was based in Orio too late in the war (1944-45) to even conceive the use of such an obsolete aircraft operationally.

Hope it helps.

Some/one Do17, travel time to time in Italy during 1944, like a Piacenza-Treviso on 21.mai BB+NE, no idea of the Unit, looks like as a "Stab"

Hi,

it looks like from KG2. It seems that it has a nose band (yellow or red).

Regards

Robert

Hi All,
the mistery about this picture is revealed.
The picture was taken by an italian soldier in russia.
This military was from Urago d'Oglio.

Isn't this taken in Greece in April 1941 and has been subject to questions before?

Dear Friends,
i posted an articles on a local newspaper about that picture.
The picture was taken in Russland by an Italian soldier and taken home.
The scenery in background is similar to the town where i belive taken the picture.
