Lt Bikkel 1/KG26

Hi i wonder if anybody could help confirm the identity or add to the career details i have for Bikkel.

I aquired some Flugbuch copies of Lt Bikkel but i haven't been able to establish any further information on him from the sources i have available.

Through research on KG26 i am under the impression that "my" Bikkel may well be actually Lt Heinz Bickel who was promoted to Oblt 1.6.43 and lost on ops 19.7.43 missing but later found to be POW.

Would anybody be able to confirm that Lt Heinz Bickel flew with 1/KG26 during 1940-41. The info i have states " Bikkel" flew his first operational combat flight on the 10th Dec 1940 to London and subsequent missions to London thru till the end of Jan 1941
Any help would be ever so much appreciated.
Best regs,
Steve.

Re: Lt Bikkel 1/KG26

Steve,

This is what I found in Alexander Steenbeck's book "Die Spur des Löwen":
Oblt. Heinz Bickel (FF), Uffz. Gerhard Urban (BO), Uffz. Erich Wellenreuther (BF), Uffz. Josef Bulitta (BS).
Lost in He.111H-11,1H+CK, Werkenr.8406. from 3./KG 26
Missing, POW after 'Angriff auf engl.-amerik. Schiffziele, Ostküste Sizillien.
Hope this will help you.
Kind Regards.

Dirk

Evening Dirk, may i thank you for your reply on Bickel and his loss on 19.7.43. However i have exactly the same information as you regarding his crew. What i am desparate to establish is his earlier career possibly from the latter part of 1940 through in to 1941.

Kindest regs,
Steve.
