Crew of Ju 88 shot down near convoy JW58 on 2 April 1944

Hello,

I have several sources all agreeing that the Ju 88 D-1 WNr 430822 of 1.(F)/22 was shot down by FAA fighters near the convoy JW58 in Barents Sea on 2 April 1944. It was the sixth German aircraft shot down while shadowing this convoy.

But none of these sources list the crew (contrary to the five other aircraft).

So if someone can give me the crew list for this aircraft, it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Laurent

Does anyone know what was the cause of this loss? I have it as a kill for 819 Squadron but I haven't been able to find the claimants.

regards

Keith

Does not say exactly here - and I have not found a claim - it may have been engaged without it been reported fully, the loss be accidental or due AA fire damage on return leg. Aircraft lost around this convoy (March/April 1944) were six, three Fw 200 Condors (Fw 200 C-3 0062 "F8+BL" 3./KG.40 Oblt. Walter Klomp on 31 march, Fw 200 C-6 0220 F8+GL Oblt. Alfred Weyer 31 march and Fw 200 C-6 0224 F8+OL Uffz. Alfred Göbel 31 march), one BV 138 (C-1 0311043 6I+FL 1 April) and two Ju 88 D-1 (430563 4N+CK 30 March and 430822 4N+LH 2 April), Allied aircraft used were Wildcat´s and Swordfish of 819 squadron RN/FAA off HMS "Activity" and 846 SQ RN/FAA Wildcat & Avengers off HMS “Tracker”.
