Hi Stig.
Re. the designators. There are a couple more photos of "V" P-47s (one in colour) both with red / white nose markings......
"V1" 42-28731 and "V40" 42-29222, the latter shown over Hartford CT. ; I think all 3 could be from Bradley Fd. CT especially as similar cowling markings are on older camouflaged P-47s ( their earlier P-40s had yellow cowling numbers in 1942).

44-32796 was one of the 25 P/F-47s for Dominica numbered 1101--1125 , the first 2 numbers indicated F-47s. They had some brilliant markings.
