Fighter Pilot's Unit?

Hi,

I have a sterbebild of a Gefr. Ernst Eggerdinger who was killed in air combat on the 12th May 1944. He was a fighter pilot. Can anyone tell me in which unit and anything about his loss?

Many thanks

Rick

Re: Fighter Pilot's Unit?

Hi Rick!
On another board there has been a lot of writing with many posts on Eggerdinger.
He belonged to 8./JG 11 and crashed with an Fw 190 A-7 or A-8. Nothing is stated with code or Wnr.
He was the reason, i started collecting these death cards and for numerous years i have tried to track him, so now we are a little closer.

Best wishes

Christian

Re: Fighter Pilot's Unit?

Hello Rick!

Is there a place of birth given on his death card? Or were it was printed?
Eggerdinger sounds austrian or bavarian!

Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben,

Wolfgang

Re: Fighter Pilot's Unit?

Hi,

I can’t find a pilot named Eggerdinger belonging to JG 11 in Prien/Rodeike books about Jagdgeschwader 1 and 11.
Perhaps Fred Trendle’s Point Blank - part 5, Losses may 1944 can shed a light on this loss. But I still have to order it. Kind regards.
Dirk

Re: Fighter Pilot's Unit?

Hello Rick,

Ernst Eggerdinger + 12 May 1944 is listed on a name plate in the honor crypt near the church at Winhöring district Altötting in Bavaria.
