Re: Staffelkapitan KG77 1940.
Hi Chris, I'm looking for the period from 10.5.40 to the end of 1940.
Was Hptm Oskar Wolff St.Kap of 5/KG77, and Oblt.Ernst Berbecker St.Kap of 6/KG77? Up to press there is no publication of the history of his unit in print so I don't know of any command listings! Best regs, Steve. |

Re: Staffelkapitan KG77 1940.
Steve: There was a KG 77 Association some years ago and I have heard no plans to write a history of the unit. The Association made a list so:
5 Staffel Hptm Wilhelm Bues (?) + 29 Aug 40 Hptm Günther Zetsche +27 Sep 40 Oblt Klaus von Nasse 6 Staffel Oblt Ernst Berbecker to 31 Aug 40 Hptm Hans-Jörg Leuze to 29 Oct 40 Hptm Dietrich Peltz |

Re: Staffelkapitan KG77 1940.
Hi Chris thank you for your reply and help.
Its quite amazing a unit as rich in history and active from the first day of the war until the end as not been highlighted in some form of publication. Perhaps we may see such a publication in the future from somebody maybe like Lela Presse? Best regs, Steve. |

Re: Staffelkapitan KG77 1940.
Only if there is an expert on the unit. Do 17s to Ju 88s then you get KGr 606 becoming part of it then it becomes KG 26. Knowing how much work is needed to write about a unit, the time is no longer right with veterans no longer with us. Same can be said of KG 3, KG 28, KG 30, KG 40, KG 76

Re: Staffelkapitan KG77 1940.
Thank you Chris great shame.
Do you happen to to know when Berbecker was promoted to St.Kap and who he succeeded? I've got most of his flights through the Western campaign via his observer Oblt. Ernst Seif , who's flugbuch I have. Best regs, Steve. |
