B 17 G MACR Report . Help

Hello,
I'm looking for the MACR 1707 from a B17G. The must have crashed in my place there would like to research. Maybe someone has that and could send that to me. Many thanks and best regards from Germany

20 Dec 1943 11:45 near Heise/Wesermünde, B-17 G 42-31233, 303rd BG.

303rd BG association has a very good websdite.

Thank you, yes, exactly Heise. I would be interested in the outcome of the crash. I'll check the internet page. What I would be interested in if the crew was completely recovered. There are different statements here in the village.

The top-turret gunner T/Sgt James C. Spross became POW, the rest of the crew was killed.

There were two survivors Spross, as was mentioned above and the Tail Gunner Armand O Van Landingham. The plane had problems at the target and some or all of the right side bombs did not release. Spross was sent back to try and release them. The bomb bay doors may have been stuck, as Spross was given the crank to open/close the doors. The bombardier came back to help Spross but was waved back to the front as the plane was now under attack, (he would have operated the chin turret). The order was given at some point to bail out, but the plane exploded. Spross was apparently blown out, while Van Landingham may have bailed out of the tail. In Spross's post war MACR comments, he does not remember bailing out.
