Re: Commanders in NJG 2

Hello,

NEY, Berthold (“Petz”). (DOB: 13.12.14 in Schwerin).
15.09.43 Hptm., appt Staka 6./NJG 2.

It looks like Ney was with 6./NJG 2 until at least end of January 1944.
On January 2nd, Ney flew an operational sortie in the Ju 88 R4+TP (Flugbuch Helmut Zencker). That same Flugbuch is signed off (die Richtigkeit der Flüge (...)) by Ney on the 27th of January 1944. Signature of Ney with the text 'Hauptmann and Staffelkapitän.
On the 3rd of January he achieved a victory which was filed with the unit 6./NJG 2 (according to the Nachtjagd Combat Archive 1944, Theo Boiten).

His next confirmed victory on the 30th of January was filed with the Stab III./NJG 2.

Regards,
Timon

Re: Commanders in NJG 2

Snippets from documents:

Oblt. Franz Brinkhaus –
He endorsed 6./NJG2 Flugbücher for Ulrich Hess and Kurt Wacker on 20.04.1945 as Staka 6./NJG2. He endorsed the Flugbuch for Ofw. Waldman on 23.04.1945, as as Staka 6./NJG2. The previous endorsement in Waldman’s Flugbuch was made by an unknown Hauptmann (not listed as Staka) circa 12.44

Oblt. Erich Jung -
He endorsed his own Flugbuch on 28.02.1945 as Staka 5./NJG2. He endorsed Walter Heidenreich’s Leistungsbuch on 28.02.1945 and 13.04.1945 as Staka 5./NJG2. Later endorsements in both documents (i.e. after 13/04) were made by an unknown Leutnant (not listed as Staka). NOTE - Jung served in 6./NJG2 throughout 1944, including when he made an aerial victory claim on 21.11.1944. I don't have a copy of Jung's Flugbuch entries for 1944, so I cannot comment on when he transferred to 5./NJG2.

ULTRA (HW 5/649) has message CX/MSS/R.433/A/13:

"from Adj. Jagdkorps I IIa on 18/1: in accordance with communication of OKL GAF Personnel 1, ID 40028 of 17/1/45, with immediate effect Hptm. (Tr.) Heinz-Horst Hissbach II./NJG2 is entrusted with the affairs of Kommandeur of this Gruppe."

Regards

Rod

Staffelkapitän 10./NJG 3 ist Hptm Billig.

It seems that on 1 Nov 1944 III./NJG 2 became IV./NJG 3 and IV./NJG 3 became III./NJG 2.
Anyone who can tell me why?
Cheers
Stig
