It's worth adding that there are dissenting views, saying that Beaverbrook took credit for improvements in the system that had already been put into place before his appointment. Also that his methods produced considerable disruption and a lack of traceability for decisions. However, if he did indeed remove Nuffield from control of Castle Bromwich, that alone is worth a lot! I don't think that a balanced history of this period has been written yet.
