Looking for information about Luftwaffe pilot

Hi Folks!
I'm looking for information about o pilot who flew for the Luftwaffe in WW2. His name is Albert Bauer. It looks like he's flown in both west and east fronts. I've been to the usual WW2 sites and found nothing.
Thanks for the help
Rogerio

Re: Looking for information about Luftwaffe pilot

Hello Rogerio,

There was an Uffz. Albert Bauer who flew Bf106Gs with III./JG76. He was KIA on 25 Aug 44 near Reims, France. Here is the following information that I have on Bauer on that mission:

Uffz. Albert Bauer
11./JG 76
KIA
Bf109G-6
413649
Yellow 1
Reims area

I looked up the serial number and my lists show 413649 as a G-6 model, although most records show it was a G-14 model. III./JG76, escorted by 12 Fw190A-8s of I./JG26, met up with 23 P-38Js of the 474th FG between Beauvais and Creil, France. Bauer was likely shot up in this fight and crashed near Reims which was near III./JG76's airfield at Athis.

III./JG76 was hastily formed from a Bf110 RVT unit, II./ZG 1, in July 1944 to augment rapidly depleting fighter forces in Northern France. III./JG76 did not fare well and was quickly absorbed into JG53 as IV./JG53 on 25 Oct 44.

It is a good guess that Bauer may have been with II./ZG 1. I suggest you check to see what records there are on this group.

Cheers, Gary Koch

Re: Looking for information about Luftwaffe pilot

Thanks For your help Gary. I had infomation about a Albert Bauer that survived the war. I think I'll have to keep looking. I got the informatiom from his granddaughter and I was trying to confirm what he did in the war because his granddaughter can't tell the difference between two planes, so the stories she told me have a lot of blanks to be filled in.
Thanks again for the help
Cheers
Rogerio

Re: Looking for information about Luftwaffe pilot

The W.Nr. 413 649 was an so-called "G - 6MW50". In principle was this the first designation of the G - 14.

Best wishes
Rasmussen
