Fi 156 identification

Hello everyone,

Previously, one or more of our knowledgeable board members have offered information regarding identification of Fi 156 versions. However, I need a refresher course.

In my database and photo files, I add codes identifying specific details for each aircraft. For example, in my Fi 156 files I have noted several distinctive markers: the existence or lack of three small upper cowl vents; open or closed cowling sides; and the existence or lack of rear armament.

Is there a chart, list, or drawings that collates the various Fi 156 versions, specifically regarding the above-mentioned details?

Respectfully,

Steve Sheflin

The In Action book is #198. The C-2 introduced the MG in the round window flexible mount. The 3 scoops appear on various models, and also not. It could be they were used for extra cooling in climates requiring it. Many other options including tested dive bomber, medical, etc.
