Re: F/Sgt Belec Jerome
Phil,
From what I could read on the online ORB of 249 Squadron , then F/Sgt Belec was on a four Spitfire strafing mission in Albania, when after a completed run he reported he had been hit by AA. Spitfire immediately did spiral turn to right, crashed and caught fire. Belec not seen to bale out and was posted missing believed killed. At first sight no ORB for April 1944 of 126 Squadron on the National Archives website... Groet, Leendert |

Re: F/Sgt Belec Jerome
Phil
The last line of the Form 541 for March 1944 for 126 Sqn notes the Sqn was from 1 to 30 April in the process of moving to England, so no operational flights were carried out. Thus no record book. Belec was flying EF607. I assume 249 inherited some of 126's Spitfires. Cheers Russell |
