Any idea which plane / serial number it is?

Hi All,

Found this pic in Facebook without any comment.
Any idea which unit it belonged to and which mission it flew when shot down?
Serial number?

Thanks in advance

Rolf

Re: Any idea which plane / serial number it is?

It looks like a USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress to me.

Re: Any idea which plane / serial number it is?

This is 44-8151, a B-17 of 390.BG, 569.BS.

This a/c made a belly landing near Altenheim (Département Bas-Rhin) on 20.01.45 after a mission to Heilbronn (MACR 11774).

The road in the foreground is the D230 to Furchhausen.

Regards,

Heuser
