Nicknames for 185 Squadron

There are several of these but apart from Black Knight (Ken Charney) and Red Knight (Buzz Ogilvie), Eagle Eye (Eric Mahar) etc. can anyone tell me why W.G. New, who'd no confirmed victories with 131, 126 or 185 Squadrons was called "Hawk-Eye"? He did make a few unconfirmed claims with 185 Squadron in 1942.

regards

Keith
