Death Date for Oblt Alfred Kiefer 4./KG 54
Several sources identify Oblt Alfred Kiefer as the pilot pf a Ju 88 of 4./KG 54, which was shot down into the Channel on 21 August 1940, with all four of the crew listed as MIA. However, deZeng and Stankey's Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries describes Kiefer continuing to serve after this date, with the final entry as "01.08.44 officially listed as MIA." Does anyone have a precise date for when Kiefer was finally MIA?

He was reported missing 21 Aug 40 a victim of 17 Sqn and only was confirmed missing officially in 1944

German records further confirm that a Ju 88 from I./KG 54 and two from II./KG 54 failed to return

I don't know where this entry came from. The KG 54 unit history would probably shed some additional light on this. 03.12.42 Oblt., 5./KG 54 lost Ju 88 A-4 (B3+UN) to unknown cause vic Gulf of Hammamet in Pl.Qu. 13 Ost / 0579. L. deZ.

In B3+UN on 03.12.42 the pilot was Oblt Bruno Kiefer and he was unharmed.
