Rudi says the photo dates from the "end of 1944."
It can't have anything to do with KG 54 on that date because it had already been disbanded or was beginning conversion training to KG(J) 54 by 1 October 1944. (Radtke, Siegfried. Kampfgeschwader 54 - Von der Ju 52 zur Me 262: Eine Chronik nach Kriegstagebüchern, Berichten und Dokumenten 1935 – 1945. München: Schild-Verlag, 1990.) The town of Solin, which is a suburb on the north side of Split, had been taken by Dalmatian Partisan units on 26 October 1944 after German and Croatian forces had been driven from the Split area. So, it's difficult to see a connection between the photo, the date and the town of Solin. L. |

That's a typo. My mistake, Larry. I meant end of 1943. And that's only what I think. It's not a certainty.
