Fixed rear firing MG

I hv a picture showing maintenance of a fixed rear firing MG, probably MG 17, on a He111H of the 5.KG27, photo hs been made in autumn 1942, in the Stalingrad area, I hv thought that these devices , hv been dropped after the BoB, seems not ?
