Re: Me 262 component assembly at Flossenbürg?
According to Peter Schmoll Me 262 parts production was prepared at Flossenbürg (code name "Bürg"). Production of Bf109K-4 fuselages complete with tail, landing gear and cockpit installment and wing pairs was well under way at Flossenbürg and Altenhammer. The parts were shipped via railway to Vilseck-Heringnohe, Weiden being a railway station halfway from Flossenbürg to Vilseck. From Weiden Regensburg could be reached easily with one exception: Schwandorf railway cross was completely destroyed on April 17th 1945.
Btw, Ellenbach is 3 km from Floß and "Aldthurn" is in fact "Waldthurn", all villages being situated close to Flossenbürg Regards RolandF |

Re: Me 262 component assembly at Flossenbürg?
Thank you Roland,
The Americans must have found a lot of Messerschmitt parts and assemblies in the area around Weiden with Grafenwöhr und Vilseck in the West and Flossenbürg in the East. Must have been interesting to visit all these sites just after the end of the war. Regards, Roger |
