Precise date of the loss of JU 88 C-6 WNr 0544 of 3./NJG 2

Michael Balss' book "Deutsche Nachtjagd Personalverluste in Ausbildung und Einsatz - fliegendes Personal -" has this loss occuring during the night of 24-25 February 1941.

The verliesregister that was once available online for aircraft crashes in Netherlands had it at 0015 hrs on the 24th.

The book "1941 The turning point part 1" had also this on the night of 23-24 February 1941. But he also says that the Whitley P4934 of 51 Sqn RAF was lost on the 23-24, while it was actually lost on the 26-27, so this is not the most reliable source.

Can someone confirm when this aircraft was lost ?

Thanks in advance

Hello Frans,

Can you please give me the current URL for the verliesregister ? I can't find it by Google and my old link did not work. And even if I saved it, it will be interesting to see if they are updates.

Bonjour Laurent,

You can approach the 'Verliesregister' (Dutch loss register) here:

http://verliesregister.studiegroepluchtoorlog.nl/ which gives access to the most actual register but you must search the database on specific information like Werkenummer or aircraft type

Good luck! Amicalement, Marcel

Merci Marcel!

I knew this website, but for some reason did not make the link between the old yearly lists on PDF format and this database, that has more data (for start the crew names and fates).

This database repeats the loss occured on the night of 23-24 February 1941, so I will follow it.

Best regards

Edited: the source given for this entry in the database is the General Quartiermeister Luftwaffe for 24 February: so the loss could not happen during the night of 24-25, except if Nostradamus was then working for the Luftwaffe. This proves that the date in the Balss book was wrong.
