Re: Jagdfliegerverbände 9/II question.

JFV 9/II is due to be out - hopefully - within the next two weeks. It covers the operations in the East from May 1st, 1942 through to February 3rd, 1943, the end of the Battle for Stalingrad. Vol. II will deal with JG's 3, 51 and 52, wheres Vol. III - planned now for March 2006 - will cover JG's 53, 54, 77 and in an extra chapter JG 5.

Hope this helps.

Re: Jagdfliegerverbände 9/II question.

Gentlemen,

I am awfully sorry to have to inform you, that owing first to a small series of technical problems and then to the pre-Christmas shortage of capacities at the book-binder, deliveries of Jagdfliegerverbände Vol. 9 / II will commence during the frst week of January 2006 only. We have tried everything to meet the deadline for Christmas but it just wasn't possible, as struve-druck has just informed me.

However, the Vol comprising 592 pages and some 430 photos, I hope that in the end you will be happy with what you get.

Again, my sincere apologies.

Hi, it covers JG 3, 51 and 52. The book is not quite cheap, but worth the money.

But the quality of the photos – especially the coloured photos –
could be better next time...

Re: Jagdfliegerverbände 9/II question.

Does anyone know if there are any plans for the Jagdfliegerverbände series to be published in english?

Could someone with minimal german make use of the claims data, presumably the format is similar the lists in Jochen Prien's various unit histories. Are there extensive sections of text?

Regards

Andy Fletcher

Re: Jagdfliegerverbände 9/II question.

Andy,
If an individual volume of the Jagdfliegerverbände has 500 pages, probably only 50 pages of that is actual text. The remainder is photographs and tables (unit COs, unit bases, claims, losses, markings).

Given the above, I would doubt that there would be an English language edition of the entire series, although Dr. Prien can comment on that better than I. My only comment here is that there might be a market for a single volume which extracts the text from the entire series, and translates just that into English, along with a translation of the glossaries and an explanation of the tables.

Frank.
