Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

The 109 is a WNF built Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 511 8.9 "Schwarze 1", unknown training unit, possibly found at Schleissheim, May 1945.

Cheers
Marc

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Nice find, Snautzer

This seems to be the airfield at Ainring. Another shot of He 111 "??+JW" can be seen on page 61 in the book "Doras of the Galland Circus" by Jerry Crandall. Also of note is the "Mistel" gear on the Do 217. This plane might have belonged to the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (perhaps for experimental flights with the Me 328 or DFS 228?). According to Technical Intelligence Report No. E-34 (also quoted in Crandall's book) one Do 217 was captured at Ainring. I bet it's the one in these Ebay photos..

Cheers,
Christian

EDIT: I just see that the same TI report mentions a Ju 88, equipped for carrying a V-1. Would love to see a shot of this one too..

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thanks for your insight, Christian. For the 109 shots, I would doubt Ainring as there are definitely no Alps to be seen in the background...

Cheers
Marc

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Is it unusual that the 109G-14 has C3 in the primer tank fuel triangle as opposed to B4?

Cheers,

D.B.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Appears to be W.Nr. 201835, so a G-8 reconnaissance model.
